This is the beautiful Lachrimae Antique Pavan by John Dowland (1562-1626) as I play it on YouTube. The Lachrimae pavan was evidently a bona fide 'hit' of its age, around 1604. There are many settings for this piece from Dowlands hand. Most known are the Consort setting called 'Flow my teares'. I love this music; the sadness, desperation and yet... hope for a better life. John Dowland's Frog Galliard is one of my favourite pieces from him. Should be played with a Caop in 3rd. fret. My arrangement is in lute-tuning: E B F# D A E In other words; the third string should be tuned one half step down from G to F#. It is very easy to play in that tuning once you get used to it.
